Dr Jörg Berchem is a professional naturopathic practitioner, holistic health practitioner and scholar of human ecology.

He studied African and Oriental Studies, Geology, Tropical Agriculture, and Development Studies at the Universities of Cologne and Göttingen, and completed further qualifications at the Universities of Nairobi, London and Cambridge, as well as at the Universidad para la Paz.

Following several periods of intercontinental research, particularly in ethnobotany and the relationship between human beings and their environment, he returned to Europe and went on to qualify as a holistic health practitioner.

In his therapeutic work, he seeks to strengthen self-healing capacities and individual potential through natural methods, personal guidance and individual responsibility. For him, holistic naturopathy means meeting each person with care and attention, accepting them as they are, understanding them as a whole consisting of body, soul and spirit, and supporting the awakening of their self-healing powers. His main concern is to reconnect people with their inner and outer nature and to foster love, balance and emotional well-being.

As an independent scholar, he is interested in multidisciplinary fields, and his publications focus mainly on ethnological, linguistic and naturopathic subjects. He is also a visiting lecturer at international conferences and a tutor in personal, vocational and advanced education.

Since leaving Europe in 2021, he has worked internationally from a base in East Africa. As a consultant, he advises non-governmental organisations and local projects. As a visiting professor, he also teaches human ecology, intercultural communication, medicine and languages.
